“James DeCamp is a hustling photographer,
someone with passion and energy who charges full speed at his assignments. He has a disarming personality, which served him well when trying to photograph in difficult situations. He's a pro.”

•iBen Marrison, Editor, The Columbus Dispatch

“Jim is an excellent photographer with keen news judgment.
He covered many of the breaking-news stories that I supervised and was always on top of the action. Jim did an excellent job of developing sources among the police and fire departments. He always had terrific photos and they were always turned in immediately.”

“Jim was my favorite photojournalist to work with.
His photos were poignant and captured all elements of the stories we worked on together. Beyond just his photos, Jim always knew what was going on and brought me up to speed. Often, he was the reason the paper knew about the story. It was awesome working with Jim as a team on night police reporting. No one could have done a better job.”

“James DeCamp was our go-to-photographer
for spot news and crime-related photography at The Dispatch and my personal friend. I highly endorse his work ethic and his talent. He would be an asset to any company.”

"First, let me tell you that you did an outstanding job
on the the multimedia presentation you made of the fire at A-Tech Auto Body on Eakin Rd. I have never seen anything done like that from a local event. Much of the radio traffic you hear is me on Engine 193, first giving a rundown of the situation on our arrival, and again with a status report from inside.
It would be good to have a copy of this, not only as a training aide, but as a piece of departmental history. Not to mention to have as a personal keepsake of my career. Again, you did a very nice job."

"What a great shot
I thought you got for the story, "Police hunt man charged with Franklinton murder". It had the feel of 1940s and 1950s-era crime scene photos. The flashlight and lack of fill flash works. Good Job!"

"If Jim were a dog, there's no doubt he would be a bloodhound,
because he always seems to find his way to just the right spot to catch his prey: the news. If we need it, he gets it. He often knows about breaking news before the rest of us. We are lucky he's part of our team. He's a true photojournalist, providing necessary information to reporters and editors; indispensable in spot news and underrated as a sports photographer."

"You think James Bond has cool gadgets?
Check out Jim DeCamp's arsenal of information-gathering equipment. Hanging from his belt are pagers, cell phones, a police scanner and a walkie-talkie. Jim has so many radios and scanners in his front passenger seat, he can't offer anyone a ride.
But gadgets don't make great pictures without the right person using them. Jim is one of the best spot-news photographers in the state - a guy who has put his life on the line to capture dramatic news shots for our readers. Jim has the uncanny ability to be where news happens. His pictures are proof of his diligence."

"James DeCamp is Amazing!
Jim and his daughter did an amazing job! They did my photos for my engagement, rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception. I'm very picky with my photography and he was able to understand exactly what we wanted. He was flexible in using multiple cameras, multiple locations all while capturing the moment. Having he and his daughter available allowed for two different perspectives on the formal shots as well as not missing a moment of our big day. The candid photos really captured the whole day and allowed us to see how much fun everyone was having. DeCamp was worth every penny! Having an award winning photographer that is well known in Columbus was the reason we picked Jim! His quality, professionalism and talent is why I recommend him to everyone looking for a photographer."

"James was very orgranized
with his paperwork ahead of time so I could list important people and what kind of pictures we wanted.
He was also very knowledgable about the Columbus area and helped us find an outdoor location that would work well for us rain or shine.
He also offers a variety of package options so you can choose one that fits your wedding photography wishes and your budget."

"Extremely Professional

We used Jim for our September wedding in Columbus. He is extremely professional and has done this so many times, you won't have to worry about anything. Jim met with us about 4 weeks before the wedding and went over key people, important photos, timelines, etc. He had a great organizational system for making sure everything got covered.

The day of the wedding he arrived early and immediately started working on shots of us getting ready, the dress, shoes, etc. He did not need any direction and had already scouted locations around the synagogue for good spots for the portrait sessions. During the posed photos, he was good about looking out for all the little details - tilt your head this way, flowers that way, move to the left to hide the ugly fixture on the wall, fixing wrinkles in the dress, etc - and giving our families direction who are not that great about getting organized. Several of my attendants remarked how professional he was.
During the reception, I hardly noticed him at all, but the pics we just got are fantastic.

It was really important to me that we have good photographs of our wedding and I've known other people who decided this was where they would save money, and they were not happy with the results - you get what you pay for :-)

I researched a number of studios studios and we talked with photographers from four of them, and Jim was definitely the best value for money we found. I highly recommend him!"

"Jim was fantastic!

His pictures were beautiful and he captured so many moments during the ceremony and reception that we didn't even know had happened.

The quality of his pictures were rivaled only by his demeanor. He was a very calming, positive influence on what was a very hectic day. He wasn't pushy or invasive and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to capture every aspect of our wedding. His upbeat and positive attitude was a great asset and he was extremely professional, yet always personal and approachable.

From our initial email to him asking for a meeting to picking up our proof book (which he had for us 3 weeks after the wedding), he has been responsive to every question and request we had. He never took more than a few hours to respond, often doing so within minutes.

Jim was well-worth the money we paid for his services and products. He was very flexible with us, meeting with us on weekends, responding to email in the evenings, always catering to our needs. In fact, he even allowed us to change our mind about something we had initially purchased and gave us our money back when we decided we didn't want it.

Jim went above and beyond anything we could have expected. We would highly recommend him to anyone."

"Thank you so much for helping to make special memories of our wedding day!
We are thrilled with the photos we received and appreciate that the shots are both modern and timeless. It's so nice to have tangible reminders of the day because it flew by so quickly! Ordering through the website was really easy and there were lots of print options to choose from, too. Your understanding and accommodations of Andy's disability meant so much to us. The entire process was smooth and we found it really easy to work with you in all the different stages: deciding the style of photos, actually capturing the shots, selecting the prints, etc. You have such a gift! We would not hesitate to contact you again for other special occasions in our journey together.
Thank you!!"

"They're AWESOME! We've all been looking at them over and over.
My favorites are Nora in the flowers and Michael on the swings. We love the bike ones, too - we were both critiquing our own form. I also like the ones of Nora stepping on my head. :-)
Thank you SO MUCH! These will be wonderful memories for our family!"

“I just looked at the wedding link! OH MY GOSH!!
I have to tell you I am blown away by the beauty of your shots and photography! Thank you so very very very much for your heartfelt gifting of your talent to me and my family. Jim, you have a true talent in photography and I am so incredibly thankful for your time, your heart, your friendship, and this beyond wonderful gift!
We just showed your video + pics to our friends and they were just WOWED by all you captured, the way you saw the wedding, and the brilliance of your photography. My husband and I were noticing new details of what you captured as we watched the video for the 6th time!"
